TPO Single Ply Roofing

Remember the old tar kettles that used to stink up the whole neighborhood when someone in the area was getting a new flat roof. Those memorable days are now nearly history as single-ply roofing systems have almost completely taken over the industry.

Single-ply roof membranes are among the fastest growing flat and low slope roofing products and are widely accepted for their many performance and installation advantages.  There are several types of single-ply systems including PVC, IB, EPDM and TPO.

At Heritage Roofing we install TPO (thermo-plastic polyolefin) due to its advanced installation techniques (hot air welded) and it’s associated high strength and durability. TPO is highly resistant to tears, impacts and punctures with good flexibility to allow for building movement. TPO roofs are also easy to maintain and repair by a roof specialist.

TPO membranes offer design options with colors available in reflective white, light tan and light gray. The white and tan membranes carry an Energy Star rating, meet the new version of the California Title 24 Energy Efficiency Standards and are listed with the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC).

Properly installed TPO roof systems have service life’s ranging from about 15 to 20 years depending on the type of installation. Full removal of the existing roof, the amount of slope to the roof, weather conditions, maintenance and other criteria contribute to the longevity of a roof’s service life. But the number one ingredient to a good roof system is always a proper installation.
